Cook these once Sunday — they carry the full week. Pull all baby portions before any salt or spice goes in.
Warm rye berries topped with garlic-olive oil white beans, diced cucumber, roasted cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, fresh parsley, and crumbled feta. Lemon-herb vinaigrette over everything. Bright, filling, no cooking required at assembly.
Batch: rye berries (reheat with splash water), white beans, roasted tomatoes, dressing from jar. Dice cucumber fresh. Assembly only.
🍼 Baby: Soft rye berries with mashed white beans. Diced cucumber in small pieces or thick spears — never thin strips (choking). Warm cherry tomato quarters. No olives (salt), no feta, no dressing. Small drizzle olive oil for fat. Parsley fine in small amounts cooked in; skip if raw and in big pieces.
LDL: Rye berries are one of the highest soluble fiber grains available — beta-glucan + arabinoxylan. White beans add a second fiber source. Olive oil + no saturated fat anchor.
Sablefish fillets (black cod) nestled in a pan of roasted cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, capers, white beans, garlic, and lemon slices. Green beans tucked in alongside. Baked at 400F for 12–15 min. Finished with fresh basil and a pour of good olive oil. Serve with sourdough for mopping up the sauce.
Roasted tomatoes from batch. White beans from batch. Sablefish baked fresh — 12–15 min (richer and fattier than cod, cooks similarly). Green beans in the pan. Sourdough warmed in oven last 3 min.
🍼 Baby: Plain sablefish portion — pull before sauce goes on. Sablefish is rich and buttery, excellent for baby. Check meticulously for bones. Serve with mashed white beans, soft green beans (trim ends, cook tender), and a drizzle of olive oil. No capers, no olives. Skip sourdough or offer a small soft piece without the crust.
LDL: Sablefish (black cod) has among the highest omega-3 content of any fish — significantly more than regular cod. Rich in EPA+DHA. Olive oil throughout, white beans add soluble fiber.
Silky spiced red lentil soup (mercimek çorbası) — cumin, turmeric, a little tomato — finished with a generous squeeze of lemon and a swirl of mint-infused olive oil on top. Served with sliced cucumber, heirloom tomato on the side, and sourdough for dipping. Simple, deeply satisfying.
Reheat dal base from batch. Blend if desired (immersion blender, 30 sec). Squeeze in lemon generously. Drizzle: warm 1 tbsp olive oil with a pinch dried mint or fresh mint, pour over just before serving.
🍼 Baby: Plain lentil base (pulled before salt). Slightly thicker consistency works well as a spoonable puree. A little yogurt stirred in is fine. Skip the mint drizzle. Cucumber spear or soft pieces on the side — great finger food.
LDL: Red lentils are the single best dietary fiber move for LDL reduction after oats. This dish has no saturated fat at all. Lemon adds vitamin C for non-heme iron absorption.
Wild shrimp sautéed in olive oil with garlic, cherry tomatoes, and a splash of white wine (or extra lemon juice). Wilted spinach folded in at the end. Served over warm rye berries, finished with feta crumble, fresh parsley, and lemon zest. Bright, fast, restaurant-quality.
Rye berries from batch (reheat). Roasted tomatoes from batch or use fresh here. Shrimp cooks in 4 min — the active work is under 10 min total.
🍼 Baby: Plain shrimp (2–3 pieces) — butterfly cut lengthwise, then into small pieces. Not a common early allergen issue but introduce with awareness. Soft millet from batch instead of rye berries. Warm tomatoes quartered. No feta (salt). Small drizzle olive oil. This is a great protein variety for baby.
LDL: Shrimp is higher in dietary cholesterol than fish but very low in saturated fat — studies show net neutral or slight improvement on LDL/HDL ratio at normal serving sizes. Rye berries continue soluble fiber load. Olive oil throughout.
Real tabbouleh ratio: mostly herbs and cucumber, not mostly bulgur. Fine bulgur, masses of flat-leaf parsley, fresh mint, diced cucumber (CSA cucumbers shine here), ripe Georgia peach (diced — Persian-inspired addition), cherry tomatoes, red onion, and chickpeas for protein. Dressed aggressively with lemon juice and olive oil. Sumac on top.
Bulgur from batch (room temp or slightly warm). Chop herbs, cucumber, and peach fresh — 5 min. Drain chickpeas. Dress with at least 4 tbsp lemon juice — underseasoned tabbouleh is sad. Tzatziki from batch on the side.
🍼 Baby: Soft-cooked bulgur with diced cucumber (small pieces) and soft chickpeas (halved or mashed). Ripe peach in tiny soft pieces — excellent finger food at this age. Just a little finely chopped parsley; skip large raw amounts. No raw red onion. Skip sumac. Tzatziki from batch is excellent for baby.
LDL: Chickpeas + bulgur together deliver a large soluble fiber hit. This is a fully plant-based meal — no cholesterol, no saturated fat.
Repeat from last week — you loved it. Pearl couscous or orzo tossed with tinned sardines, wilted arugula, cherry tomatoes, capers, garlic, and a bright lemon-olive oil pan sauce. Parmesan to finish for adults. The fastest weeknight dinner in the rotation.
Cook orzo/couscous fresh (10-12 min). Sardines from tin. Pan sauce: olive oil + garlic + lemon + capers in same pan, 3 min. Toss everything together.
🍼 Baby: Soft millet from batch instead of orzo (orzo is fine if very soft but millet is a safer size). Sardines: boneless variety if possible; if not, flake carefully by hand feeling through every piece — tinned sardines can retain fine bones. Small flaked pieces over millet. No capers (too salty), no Parmesan. Cherry tomatoes quartered and softened. Drizzle of olive oil.
LDL: Sardines are the most concentrated omega-3 source in this plan — EPA+DHA per gram rivals or exceeds fresh salmon. Arugula provides nitrates for vascular function. Olive oil throughout, no butter.
Clearout bowl with a protein anchor: warm rye berries, roasted tomatoes, cucumber, chickpeas, kalamata olives, feta crumble, hummus — plus pan-seared firm tofu rubbed in za'atar, olive oil, and lemon. Tofu gets 3–4 min per side in a hot skillet until golden. Topped with fresh parsley and a pinch of sumac.
All components from batch except tofu — quick 8 min pan-sear fresh. Rub tofu in za'atar + olive oil + lemon, high heat, 3–4 min per side until golden. Use up remaining rye berries and roasted tomatoes here.
🍼 Baby: Soft rye berries + mashed chickpeas + diced cucumber + hummus + soft tofu pieces (no za'atar rub — pull baby's portion plain before seasoning). Tofu in small soft cubes is great finger food. No olives, no feta, no dressing. Quarter tomatoes.
LDL: Soy protein (tofu) actively lowers LDL — one of the few proteins with direct evidence. Combined with rye berries, chickpeas, and olive oil, this is the most LDL-favorable meal of the week.
Salmon fillets rubbed with oregano, garlic, lemon zest, and olive oil, roasted at 400F for 12-15 min. Served with a generous pool of tzatziki (cucumber-yogurt-dill-lemon), roasted zucchini, and a wedge of lemon. Worlds better than a miso glaze — clean, herb-forward, Mediterranean all the way.
Tzatziki from batch. Salmon rubbed and roasted — 12-15 min depending on thickness. Zucchini in same pan or separate tray, olive oil, 20 min at 400F. The tzatziki does all the work.
🍼 Baby: Plain salmon portion — pull before herb rub goes on. Check through every bit for bones. Flake well. Serve with plain yogurt (baby version of tzatziki: yogurt + tiny bit cucumber, no garlic), soft roasted zucchini slices, and a drizzle of olive oil. Salmon is the omega-3 anchor for baby brain development this week.
LDL: Second omega-3 anchor of the week alongside sardines. Tzatziki replaces any heavy sauce entirely. Zucchini adds fiber. No saturated fat from red meat, no butter.
Budget 75–90 minutes. Most of it is passive oven/stove time.
